Lyrical Paintings

Norbert Schmitt, born in Germany 1972, creates in his paintings worlds, that seem to be lightening atmospheric openings of our inner everyday life. Ideas like myths, but a point of view, that is findable behind the skeletal meaninglessness of words. Colours and floating forms, which indicate individuals and gleeming breezy morphogenetic fields.

Formed by half-transparent layers of colours, which seem to attract the observer formally, and contours, lines and structures which withdraw only to push forward at another place, in his paintings the artist creates microcosms closed in on themselves between abstraction and symbolic naturalism.

The matter deals from Norbert Schmitt becomes living form; an agglomerated that writhe looking for his evolutionary process, looking for his own vital essence. Light has a fundamental role into his works, it reveals the transcience and the renewal of the lifes phenomen, reflecting itself variably on the surface.

As Norbert Schmitt is a writer, too, he started to write small parts of his texts in his paintings. The floating ideas become a matter of logical thinking in different dimensions. The texts can be read in different directions and the parts of the lyrical sentences are compatible and exchangeable.
